Rylan's last soccer game

This past Saturday was Rylan's last soccer game.  I wasn't sure how the season would go when we started.  Her first two games she cried the entire time. Then the next couple of games she would just stand on the field and watch all of the other kid run past her.  Half way through the season she would run will the pack down the field but she followed behind..... way behind.  By the last two games she was actually running with the pack and even accidently kicked the ball a couple of times.  I couldn't have asked for the kids to be on a better team their first year. (they both had Coach Cardenas).  It takes ALOT of patience to coach 4,5 & 6 year olds and they did a GREAT job.  Coach Baggs's goal the entire season was to get a smile out of Rylan and he FINALLY got one after the last game.  I really think the kids enjoyed every minute of it and even though shy most of the time they had a blast.  Thank you to Brady and Brianne Baggs, Richard and Jackie Cardenas and the rest of the Sharks and Mighty Mites parents and teammates for making our first year so great.  Can't wait for next season.

By George, I think he's got it.....Maybe

We have been working with Colton sometime now on potty training and most days it doesn't go good at all.  When he started school in August he wanted no part of it what so ever.  Some days he will tell me that he needs to go but most of the time he doesn't say anything at all.  If you ask him if he needs to go potty the answer is always "NO!!!"  A couple of weeks ago we were in Dollar General (picking up pull ups) when he asked me if he could get some "panties."  I said sure but only if you are going to wear them in which he replied "Maybe."

Yep this looks promising.

So we get them and guess what?!?!?!?!? He refuses to wear them....... Imagine that!!!!

Out of the blue yesterday morning he tells me that he doesn't want to wear his pull up he wants to wear his big boy "panties."

And yes he calls them "panties" because he told me undi-wear was a funny word.... what ever floats your boat kiddo.

I didn't let him wear them yesterday (yes bad mother I know) only because I was really nervous. I mean there hasn't been 1 whole day that he didn't go in his pull up the toilet every time he need to go.  This morning he wakes up and refuses to put a pull up on.  I'm talking throwing a fit, crying cause he didn't want to put it on.  I gave in and let him wear "panties."

Is it so bad of me that I won't don't want to put him in "panties" all day at school???? It's not that I don't want him out of pull ups because I am soooooooo ready for that.  I think I am just afraid for him only because I don't know how ready he is.

He has made major improvements just since August and I know he will get it (crossing my fingers for soon) when he's ready

My baby is growing up and I just don't know If I am ready for that!!!!!

Just a funny random picture of Colton
(yes he is crying and I don't remember why)

On Cloud 9

I never got Rylan's ears pierced when she was a baby.  Something I have always regretted.  I just knew that she was going to be a big ole chicken (like myself) and talk herself out of getting it done just thinking about the pain it would cause.

Yes I know it's not painful but my mind tells me it is..... so therefore it is!!!

She started questioning me about getting her ears pierced after thoroughly inspecting Nana's ear rings.  On the way home from soccer practice Tuesday (15 min drive) she started asking a lot of questions.  "How do they make the hole in your ear?"  "Is it soft?"  "Is it a needle?"  "Does it hurt?"  After some thinking she tells me that she thinks she will wait until she is 6 and get them done.  Then after some more questioning she tells me that she will get them done when she turns 5. (and yes this is all still within the 15 min drive home).  Right before we turn in the drive way she decides she wants to do it Saturday after her soccer game.

OK this now only gives me 4 days to freak out and even pray a little that she might change her mind.

Thursday morning on the way to school she decided she wanted to do it that day.

Wait?!?!?! What?!?!?! I have not had time to finish my freaking out yet and she drops this bomb on me.... what is she thinking.

So Thursday after work Nana, Lori (aka Baboo), Colton, Rylan and myself set out to New Braunfels to get Rylan's ears pierced.  OK it was really because Lori wanted to go shopping and Rylan getting her ears pierced was an added bonus.

Pulling in to the parking lot at Walmart I start to have an anxiety attack (crazy yes I know).  Rylan is ready and excited I on the other hand am about to throw up.  She didn't want to sit in my lap (cause I think she knew that I couldn't do it) so she chose Nana.  And she did GREAT!!!!  She never cried.  She did have a look of horror on her face when they did the first one BUT she never cried.  After it was over she kept chanting "I got my ears pierced. I got my ears pierced."  She was sooo excited.  She even woke up this morning on cloud 9.

GO Mighty Mites

This past Saturday was Colton's last soccer game...... and he actually PLAYED!!!!! That is a HUGE improvement from the beginning of the season (all four games).  He did push a little girl into the soccer net once I ran out to talk to him about it and all he said was "But Mom I was just trying to get the ball."  Other than that we had no other incidences.  After the game was over the kids got medals for all of their hard work (more like the coach needed one for his hard work trying to get a bunch of 3 yr olds to play soccer).  It was quite entertaining watching them run around.  It looked as if someone was trying to herd a bunch of cats.  Rylan still has 4 more games left and once that is over we will be waiting for our next season of some sort of sports.

( I did get a picture of his team but for some reason it wouldn't upload right.... and I'm sure it has nothing to do with operator error)

3 Years Old

3 years ago today we were blessed with our sweet little boy Colton Walker Garza! He definitely keeps us entertained and on our toes. He is 100% little boy. He loves race cars, tractors, trucks, tomtrucks (dump trucks), fire trucks, pman cars (police men), bulldozers, hairplanes (airplanes) and mootercycles (motorcycles). Most of the time he would rather sit and play by himself than have to subject himself to his sisters torturous games, ie... dress up, prince and princess. Sometimes he will give in and play but I think it's just mainly to get her off of his back. Some of his favorite movies right now are The Wizzard of Oz, Jungle Book, Finding Nemo and Cars. He still does not want to have anything to do with potty training, but we are slowing working him there..... keeping my fingers crossed that he gets it soon. People say that raising a boy is way different than raising a girl and I have to totally AGREE with that statement. But we love our little Colty and we wouldn't trade him for the world... most of the time :)

This past weekend me and the kids, along with Uncle Ross, loaded up the car and headed to see my Grandmothers for the weekend. My Granny, who is 91, came home from the Nursing Home last week. She is doing very good and is really enjoying being home. While we were there my dad decided that we need to clean out her store room. We started Saturday morning and finished around lunch because it was SSSOOOOO hot!!! My Granny is a bit of a pack rat and never throws anything away. We kept getting side tracked from cleaning because we were too busy looking at all of the stuff we had found. (Yes I should have taken some pics of some of it but I wasn't thinking... sorry). 91 years of memories (and crap) are in this room. It was really neat to see all of it.

While we were there I got to meet my new niece Hattie Jane Williams for the first time. She is so sweet and precious. Someone asked me if I was ready for another one after holding her and I just kindly replied "Absolutely not." :)

We also had a small birthday party for Colton with my moms side of the family. He LOVED it!!!!! When he went to bed last night he took with him his fire truck hat, fire truck and his race car keys. He took his crane took school with him today and took a bath with some of his other trucks last night after playing with some of his new race cars. ALL of his presents are being used and getting quality attention :) He had a blast and is loving everything he got so Thank you all for everything. It was a busy on the go weekend but it always feels so good to spend it with family.

DRAMA

Well we survived our first week at Little Pirates.... YEAH!!!!! We only had one melt down and that was Wednesday morning when I dropped the kids off. Rylan was supper tired (AKA Needy Nelly) so she was screaming for me as I walked out the door. (And I admit that I cried when I got into the car and she could no longer see me) The rest of the week went good. Colton is LOVING it but I think it will just take some time for Rylan to get use to everything. She did tell me this morning when I dropped them off that she (and I quote) "Hated Little Pirates because they make me play centers and go outside and I miss Mrs. Percy"...... Seriously?!?!?!?!?! What kid HATES going outside and playing centers?!?!?!?!?! UUUGGGHHH she is soooo full of drama. She is going to be the child that cries everyday in Kindergarten. She just doesn't do change very well so it takes a while for something new to become part of her routine. We shall see how week 2 goes.... Wish me luck!!!

Growing up

Today is a bitter sweet day for the Garza household. Today is the last day that the kids will be going to Mrs. Percy's. Rylan has been going there for 4 years and Colton almost 3 years. She has been so good to us over the years and I'm not sure how I am going to handle the next couple of weeks without her. The kids are growing up and now it's time to move on to bigger things. Both of the kids are starting Little Pirates Learning Center on Monday. It is a daycare/preschool and I know that the kids will LOVE it and make lots of new friends as it prepares them for Kindergarten (oh just typing that word makes me want to start crying). I can't BELIEVE Rylan will start Kinder next year..... where oh where has the time gone.

On a different note..... This year is going to be a busy year for us (and exhausting for me I have a feeling). I have signed Rylan up for Dance and I think she is going to LOVE it!! This sort of thing is right up her ally. I know I loved dance class when I was younger and this will bring back lots of memories for me as well. Rylan is also old enough to start the CCD program at our church and she can't wait to learn about Jesus! I also signed Rylan and Colton up for soccer (this will either turn out good or really really bad). Colton is very excited about soccer and he will really love it.... I mean what little kids doesn't want to run around chasing a ball. So to recap we will have Dance on Mondays, CCD on Wednesday nights and Soccer games on Saturday mornings and sometime during the week Soccer practice. I'm not going to lie I am actually looking forward to watching the kids be involved in things.

So on my sad day I look at all the wonderful and fun things that the kids are going to be doing and be involved with and that does make me happy.
